Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has declared that the era of targeting and hunting US F-35 and F-15 fighter jets, and forcing Washington to acknowledge damage to its aircraft, has already begun.
Writing on X, Ghalibaf said the era in which American aircraft are shot down had begun, adding that Washington would be forced to report damage sustained by its fighter jets.
He said what he described as a “nightmare” had become a daily reality that the United States would now have to live with.
His comments came after US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine said American forces must now assume that they will be targeted by autonomous systems, subjected to jamming across different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and tracked in real time.
Potential Deal
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said Iran is currently seeking a deal with the United States, adding that he believes Tehran is “losing in every way”.
NewsNation quoted Trump as saying he would not consider accepting any agreement with Tehran unless it was right for the United States.
US Vice President JD Vance, for his part, warned that a US withdrawal from the war with Iran and abandonment of the region would trigger a global energy crisis.
Vance said Tehran’s continued targeting of ships meant that a US withdrawal from the region would directly lead to an energy crisis. He added that the administration was working to protect US assets in the region while ensuring the continued flow of oil and natural gas to global markets.
Trump said on Thursday that the United States was approaching a “decisive turning point” in its confrontation with Iran, involving a decision on whether to resume large-scale attacks in an attempt to bring the conflict to an end.
In an interview with Axios published on Thursday, Trump said he would soon face a consequential decision over “whether I want to go in and eliminate the Iranian regime”.
“All possibilities are on the table with me,” he added.
