Israeli prison units operating in the “Rakevet” section designated for detainees from the Gaza Strip have deliberately beaten prisoners on their genitals, according to the Prisoners’ Media Office.
The office said Israeli occupation authorities transferred prisoners to cells without surveillance cameras before assaulting them, allowing the abuse to take place without monitoring.
It said prisoners were struck on the testicles with a hard object while their hands and feet were restrained and their eyes blindfolded.
The office also published testimony from a prisoner identified by the initials A.K., who said he was beaten with sticks across different parts of his body until he was unable to stand or move.
According to the testimony, the prisoner repeatedly cried out for pain relief or medical treatment but was left suffering without intervention from the prison administration.
The Prisoners’ Media Office said assaults against detainees from Gaza have become almost daily, amid harsh detention conditions that include taking prisoners into the prison yard while restrained, preventing them from praying and monitoring those who attempt to pray secretly.
The office also reported continuing problems with inadequate food and shortages of clothing.
It called on international and human rights organisations to intervene urgently to stop what it described as torture and sexual abuse against Gaza prisoners, provide them with protection and hold Israeli officials and prison guards responsible for the alleged violations.
According to the office, 92 prisoners have died inside Israeli prisons since the start of what it described as the genocide against the Gaza Strip, including 53 detainees from Gaza. It attributed the deaths to severe torture.
The office said that since 1967, a total of 329 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons, while Israel continues to hold the bodies of another 100 prisoners.
