Israeli reports have revealed an increase in security coordination between Tel Aviv and several Middle Eastern states as part of joint preparations for any potential escalation with Iran.
The disclosures come amid indications that the United States is strengthening its military presence in the region in anticipation of developments that could lead to another regional confrontation.
Israel’s Kan broadcaster quoted an Israeli source as saying that contacts between Tel Aviv and a number of regional states were “continuing and expanding steadily” as part of a dialogue aimed at strengthening security cooperation and confronting Iranian threats.
The source did not identify the countries participating in the coordination.
According to Kan, the United States has recently reinforced its military infrastructure in the Middle East by deploying additional combat assets and systems used by Washington and its regional partners, including “Israel”, as part of preparations for any possible escalation with Tehran.
Israeli Military Considers Expanding Attacks on Iran
The report added that the Israeli security establishment is continuing to examine options for expanding military operations against Iran.
The plans are reportedly not limited to targeting facilities connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, but also include energy infrastructure and oil refineries.
According to the report, such attacks would be intended to increase pressure on the Iranian leadership and force it to abandon its nuclear programme.
Bahrain’s King Speaks With Israeli President
In a related development, the Israeli broadcaster revealed that Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held a telephone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations as well as regional developments.
A statement issued by the Israeli presidency said the two sides emphasised the importance of the US-sponsored Abraham Accords as a framework for strengthening security, stability and prosperity in the region.
They also discussed the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation among Middle Eastern states, according to the statement.
