Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has said that Iran is not at peace with the United States, describing Washington as an unreliable party.
Qalibaf made the remarks on Sunday during a meeting in Tehran with Mohammed Darwish, head of the leadership council of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.
During the meeting, Qalibaf also reaffirmed that Iran would not recognise Israel.
He said Iran would continue supporting Muslims and the resistance front, providing “missiles when needed and political support when appropriate”.
Iran Sets Its Red Lines
Addressing negotiations, Qalibaf said Iran had established clear lines throughout the talks and had maintained them.
He described the resistance front and Lebanon as among Iran’s red lines, while pledging that Tehran would seriously pursue the second phase of the peace process in Gaza.
Qalibaf said Iran had not abandoned its central demand in the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States through Pakistani and Qatari mediation.
According to him, that demand was for an end to the war against Iran’s regional allies and the resistance front. He said the United States had been “forced to recognise them in the memorandum of understanding”.
Military Readiness and Negotiating Strength
Qalibaf argued that full readiness for war is one of the conditions required for negotiating from a position of strength.
He warned that the United States and Israel would resort to war if they sensed weakness in Iran’s spirit of resistance.
The Iranian Parliament Speaker also stressed that diplomacy must be capable of protecting military gains and making them permanent.
Qalibaf said the enemy had come to understand that peace in the region and Lebanon could only be achieved through Iran.
Addressing countries across the region, he warned that the United States and Israel would not bring them security or strength. He argued that regional security and economic development depend on cooperation among the countries of the region.
