Press reports have revealed controversial accounts alleging that the United States used a mysterious weapon during a high-level security operation in Venezuela. These accounts have opened the door to serious questions about the nature of such weapons, their effects, and the boundaries between what is disclosed and what remains concealed in modern warfare.
The New York Post reported that the United States used a highly effective mysterious weapon during an operation that ended with the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. According to testimony from a Venezuelan security guard who took part in defending the site, the weapon caused the collapse of the forces tasked with protecting him and inflicted severe symptoms on them.
According to the newspaper, the guard’s testimony was published on Saturday on the X platform via the account of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who commented on it by saying, “Stop what you are doing and read this.”
The guard said, in an interview described by the newspaper as “shocking”, that US forces used unfamiliar technology that led to near total paralysis of Venezuelan forces’ capabilities. He confirmed that hundreds of fighters fell during the operation, while US forces suffered no losses.
He explained that the operation began with a sudden failure of all radar and communications systems, saying, “We were at our positions, and suddenly all surveillance systems stopped without any explanation. Then large numbers of drones appeared above our sites, and we did not know how to respond.”
He added that a limited number of helicopters, “no more than eight”, were deployed around 20 US soldiers only. However, according to his description, they were “armed with something far more powerful than rifles”.
The guard said, “They were technologically advanced in an unprecedented way, and they did not resemble any force we had faced before.”
He indicated that what took place was not a conventional engagement, but rather a “massacre”, adding, “We were in the hundreds, but we had no chance at all. They were firing with astonishing accuracy and speed.”
The most terrifying moment, according to the testimony, came with the use of an unknown weapon. The guard said it resembled “a very high intensity sound wave”, adding, “They fired something I cannot describe. It was like an extremely powerful sound wave. I felt as if my head was exploding from the inside.”
He explained that the effect was immediate, with soldiers suffering from severe nosebleeds, bloody vomiting, and loss of the ability to move. He said, “We fell to the ground and were no longer able even to stand.”
The newspaper reported that the Venezuelan Ministry of Interior announced the killing of around 100 members of the security forces during the attack, which took place on 3 January. It noted that it remains unclear whether these deaths were a direct result of the mysterious weapon.
The New York Post quoted a former US intelligence source as saying that the US military has for years possessed weapons based on “directed energy”, such as microwave waves or laser beams, which can cause symptoms including bleeding, temporary paralysis, and severe pain.
The source added that China used a similar weapon in a border dispute with India in 2020, confirming that “some of the symptoms described are consistent with the effects of this type of weapon”.
The guard concluded his testimony with a strongly worded warning, saying, “I am sending a warning message to anyone who thinks they can confront the United States. After what I saw, I never want to be on the opposite side of them again.”
