Hebrew media reported that the Israeli occupation army convened an emergency meeting within an operational intelligence unit, attended by War Minister Israel Katz, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and Head of Military Intelligence Shlomi Binder.
According to the Hebrew outlet Walla, discussions focused primarily on the Iranian threat, particularly in light of occupation claims that Tehran is accelerating the rebuilding of its ballistic missile arsenal following the twelve-day war.
In this context, Mossad chief David Barnea warned that Iran’s nuclear project, despite the damage it sustained, has not been buried. He stressed that “the nuclear danger still exists, and we must ensure it never sees the light.”
Intelligence reports held by the occupying state claim that Iran is currently conducting tests on new launch platforms and missiles in an attempt to assess combat readiness.
According to security sources within the Netanyahu government, Tel Aviv does not rule out that Tehran could resort to launching an attack using ballistic missiles or drones to divert attention from its escalating internal crises, including popular protests demanding economic reforms, as reported by Hebrew media.
The sources also expressed additional concern over Iranian-Turkish rapprochement, particularly regarding the Syrian landscape and regional role, especially after Ankara’s position shifted toward a more hardline stance against the occupying state.
Earlier, Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, threatened to turn all US bases and armed forces in the Middle East into a “legitimate target” for Tehran in response to any potential aggression or adventure. This came after remarks by US President Donald Trump stating that the United States would intervene to protect peaceful demonstrators in Iran if authorities move to kill them.
Protests erupted in Iran in late December due to the sharp decline in the value of the local currency, the rial, and its impact on prices.
Iran is experiencing a period of high inflation and the continued collapse of the rial. After the United States withdrew from the nuclear agreement in May 2018, the rial’s value fell sharply from around fifty thousand rials per dollar to approximately 1.4 million rials per dollar on the free market at present.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with Newsmax last week, commenting on the ongoing protests in Iran, that any potential change in the country “will come from within.” He claimed that “this change depends on the decision of the Iranian people,” adding: “We understand what the Iranians are going through and we deeply sympathise with them.”
The occupation carried out an operation against Iran on the night of 13 June 2025, accusing it of running a secret military nuclear program. The airstrikes and sabotage operations targeted nuclear facilities, military leadership figures, prominent nuclear physicists, as well as air bases.
