The United States confirmed today, Tuesday, that Israel has informed the administration of President Donald Trump about plans to resume the war in Gaza, prior to executing wide and sudden airstrikes.
A spokesperson for the White House told Fox News that “Israel consulted with the Trump administration regarding its airstrikes on Gaza.”
The White House also indicated that President Trump supports Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to return to war and has sent bombers, bombs, and aircraft carriers to defend “Israel.”
In a related context, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority pointed out that Tel Aviv had informed the United States of its plans to attack Gaza before the strikes took place early Tuesday.
The authority added, citing an unnamed security source: “The United States was briefed on the Gaza attacks before they occurred.”
Israeli Army Radio claimed that the wave of wide-ranging airstrikes on Gaza “is aimed at eliminating militants and targeting Hamas’ infrastructure.”
It was noted that dozens of Israeli Air Force jets were involved in the bombing campaign, targeting dozens of sites in the Gaza Strip. The main element of the operation was “surprise.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his “Nazi” government fully responsible for the consequences of the treacherous aggression on Gaza and the Palestinian civilians, who are under siege and facing a brutal war and a systematic policy of starvation.
The movement said that “Netanyahu and his extremist government have decided to overturn the ceasefire agreement, putting the prisoners in Gaza at an uncertain fate,” urging mediators to hold Netanyahu and Israel accountable for violating and overturning the agreement.
Hamas called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to assume their historical responsibilities in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their heroic resistance, and in breaking the unjust siege on Gaza.
It also urged the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council to urgently convene to make a decision that obligates Israel to cease its aggression and comply with resolution 2735, which calls for ending the aggression and withdrawing from all of Gaza.
On Tuesday morning, Israeli warplanes launched violent airstrikes on various areas in Gaza, targeting several residential homes, thus ending the ceasefire agreement that had come into effect on January 20.
