The Israeli government is contemplating orders for its army to occupy the city of Gaza amid a stalemate in the faltering negotiations regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
Channel 14, closely associated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reported that the government is considering issuing orders for the army to occupy the city of Gaza.
The channel added, “Against the backdrop of the deadlock in negotiations for the deal involving Israeli captives in Gaza, the political echelon is considering issuing an order for the Israeli army to soon occupy the city of Gaza in the northern part of the strip.”
It was noted that the Israeli government “is greatly satisfied with the excellent results of the maneuvers conducted by the Israeli army in recent weeks in northern Gaza.”
On October 5th, the Israeli occupation army invaded northern Gaza, planning to turn it into a buffer zone after displacing the residents under a brutal bombardment that blocked the entry of food, water, and medicine.
The channel mentioned that “the political echelon is contemplating issuing an order for the Israeli army to move south and occupy the city of Gaza in the near future.”
It continued, “Such an operation is now possible, especially in light of the ceasefire in Lebanon and the availability of more army forces to carry out extensive and prolonged maneuvers.”
However, it was noted, “A final decision on this matter has yet to be made, as the meeting of the political-security cabinet scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, has been postponed due to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s hospitalization.”
The report concluded, “But Israel is beginning to realize that the only thing that truly harms Hamas is the loss of territory, so we would not be surprised to see the Israeli army occupying the city of Gaza soon.”
The Israeli aggression on Gaza has reached its 453rd day amid a genocide that has left approximately 154,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly children and women, with over 11,000 missing amidst massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters.
