Mawlawi Shah Mohammad, a prominent leader of the Afghan Taliban, has sent a message of solidarity and support to the people of Palestine following the assassination of the head of Hamas’ political bureau in Tehran last week.
In a video posted by the “Afghanistan in Arabic” page on Sunday, August 4, 2024, Mawlawi Shah Mohammad stated: “I am speaking to you from the capital, Kabul, in Afghanistan. O people of Palestine, we are with you. Your blood is our blood, and your homes are our homes. God willing, we will soon take revenge upon them.”
He continued: “We echo the words of the martyr Ismail Haniyeh: Our blood, our wealth, and our homes are a sacrifice for Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa. We are with you in secret and in public.”
On Wednesday, Hamas and Iran announced the assassination of Haniyeh in an Israeli airstrike targeting his residence in Tehran, following his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Bozorgian.
The world is watching for a military response from Iran and Hezbollah to Israel, after the latter was accused of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and claimed responsibility for the killing of prominent Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut on Tuesday evening.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in over 130,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of whom are women and children, and more than 10,000 missing persons.
Disregarding international community pleas, Tel Aviv continues its assault, ignoring the United Nations Security Council’s call for an immediate cessation and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
