Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on Wednesday that Tehran had been monitoring the ceasefire process with deep scepticism, accusing the United States of violating its commitments even before negotiations had formally commenced.
He explained that, as previously declared by the President of the United States, the ten-point initiative proposed by the Islamic Republic of Iran constitutes the official framework and operational basis for the talks. Despite this, three provisions within that framework have already been breached.
Ceasefire in Lebanon Violated
Ghalibaf identified the first violation as the breakdown of the ceasefire in Lebanon, noting that this issue had been explicitly acknowledged by Shehbaz Sharif.
Airspace Breach by Hostile Drone
The second violation involved the incursion of an attacking drone into Iranian airspace. According to Ghalibaf, the drone was intercepted and destroyed over the city of Lar, constituting a clear breach of the clause prohibiting any form of aggression against Iran’s airspace.
Denial of Iran’s Right to Enrich Uranium
The third violation relates to the rejection of Iran’s right to uranium enrichment, a provision explicitly outlined in the sixth clause of the proposed framework.
Ghalibaf stressed that under such conditions, neither a mutual ceasefire nor negotiations carries any real meaning.
