Informed sources have revealed an urgent collaboration launched by the authorities in Dubai with Israeli specialised firms to purchase tens of thousands of accounts on the X platform, to mislead the public and conceal negative news resulting from the Iranian bombardment of Dubai, so as not to damage its image as a tourist city.
The sources told Emirates Leaks that Dubai moved quickly to activate its alliance strategy with Israel in the field of media disinformation and social media platforms in order to save the emirate’s reputation, after the Dubai government had spent tens of billions over many years promoting it globally.
According to monitoring of platform activity over recent days, search results for the word “Dubai” show a heavy influx of accounts similar in their creation pattern and content, publishing repeated messages asserting that “the situation is stable” and that “life is normal”, without referring to the security developments linked to the Iranian bombardment.
The nature of this activity points to the existence of central management or organised coordination of the accounts aimed at flooding search results with positive content that limits the spread of negative news.
Technical indicators show that dozens of accounts were created within closely similar time periods, using generic or digitally altered images, while relying on almost identical wording in their posts, in addition to republishing promotional content about tourism, hotels, and shopping centres.
This pattern is regarded as one of the recognised characteristics of digital influence campaigns designed to steer public opinion or divert attention away from sensitive events.
According to the circulating information, this campaign is intended to prevent the formation of a media narrative linking the Iranian bombardment to Dubai’s image as a safe and stable city.
Any decline in that image is viewed as a direct threat to the tourism and investment sectors, which represent a central pillar of the emirate’s economy.
Over recent years, Dubai has allocated enormous budgets to international promotion, attracting global events, and building the image of a modern city with low risk compared to a turbulent regional environment.
The activity is not limited to unknown accounts. A simultaneous stream of content has also been observed from a number of Western celebrities and influencers in the travel and lifestyle sectors, focusing on scenes from inside hotels, resorts, and markets, accompanied by messages asserting that “everything is proceeding normally”.
This content has appeared at the same time as growing discussion of the Iranian attacks, strengthening the assumption that there is parallel media coordination.
Preliminary analysis of engagement patterns indicates that part of these accounts depends on reciprocal reposting to raise visibility and reach, a mechanism commonly used in organised digital campaigns to strengthen the presence of a particular narrative within platform algorithms.
A decline in genuine organic engagement can also be observed in comparison with the volume of posts, raising questions about the nature of the target audience and the extent to which this activity reflects real public interaction.
These developments come amid the growing use of digital influence tools by governments and official entities during security crises, whether through contracting specialised firms or operating networks of accounts aimed at controlling the broader public narrative.
