Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a series of intensive and simultaneous attacks on American and British targets across the Arabian Gulf, striking military bases, naval facilities, and an aircraft carrier. The operations also included the targeting of a location in the United Arab Emirates allegedly housing officers from the United States Central Intelligence Agency.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, a missile strike on a site described as a residence for CIA officers in the UAE resulted in the killing of six senior officers and the injury of two others. Earlier reports had indicated that a CIA headquarters facility in the Gulf state had been targeted.
In an official statement regarding Operation “True Promise 4”, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the seventh and eighth waves of attacks involved consecutive missile launches and long range drones directed at American and Israeli targets.
The statement reported that the attacks disabled the US naval base in Kuwait and destroyed three American naval facilities in the same country. Significant damage was also said to have been inflicted on command and support centres at Salman Port Base in Bahrain following an attack involving four drones.
Three American and British oil tankers were reportedly struck by missiles in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, causing them to ignite, according to the Guard.
The statement further referred to missile strikes on US military bases in Bahrain and additional repeated attacks across the region, claiming that 560 American soldiers have been killed or wounded so far.
In a further escalation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was targeted with four ballistic missiles, asserting that maritime and ground operations would continue and would become “a graveyard for aggressors”.
Separately, Iran declared the destruction of an advanced American MQ 9 drone by air defence systems affiliated with the Guard in the country’s southern region. The action was described as part of efforts to strengthen defensive capabilities and assert control over national airspace.
The Iranian statement affirmed the continuation of comprehensive missile operations and drone attacks, noting what it described as their significant psychological impact on American forces and Israeli settlers in the region, characterising it as “increasing pressure imposed by the Iranian army”.
Earlier on Sunday, the United States Central Command announced the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to five others in the war against Iran, without specifying the location where the casualties occurred.
