Iranian lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian has disclosed the contents of a message recently sent by former US President Donald Trump to Tehran, shortly before the start of nuclear negotiations held in the Omani capital, Muscat.
Iranian media quoted Nabavian as saying that Trump proposed carrying out a limited strike against Iran, with the expectation that Tehran would respond in kind. According to Nabavian, the message reached Iran prior to the talks and included the statement: “Let me strike two sites inside Iran, and you respond.”
Nabavian stressed, however, that Tehran firmly rejected this approach and conveyed a clear warning to the Americans, stating: “If you make a mistake, we will kill three or four thousand of you.” He added that Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, was tasked with informing regional counterparts that all American bases would be targeted in such a scenario.
In remarks delivered on Saturday, Araghchi said that Iran would strike US bases across the Middle East if it were attacked by American forces deployed in the region. He emphasised that such action would not constitute an attack on the countries hosting those bases.
Following the Muscat negotiations, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner reportedly sent what was described as a “message of force” to Tehran. This was conveyed through their visit to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, stationed in the Gulf and viewed as a potential spearhead for any American military action against Iran.
