Israeli media reported that Netanyahu’s government is exploring the option of confronting Iran if Washington fails to curb Tehran’s missile program, warning of the danger posed by Iran’s missile threat.
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted an Israeli official as saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present intelligence information on this matter to US President Donald Trump.
Last Sunday, the newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Tel Aviv is preparing to present a comprehensive intelligence file to Trump during his anticipated meeting with Netanyahu in the state of Florida, in an effort to persuade him to take practical steps against Iran, including the option of launching a new attack.
According to the newspaper’s sources, the intelligence file will focus on the renewal of Iran’s nuclear program, the development of ballistic missiles, the activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and the support and financing of terrorism through what it described as Iran’s regional arms.
On Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is aware that Iran has been conducting training activities recently, adding that Tehran’s nuclear activities will be discussed with US President Donald Trump.
Earlier this month, naval forces affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard carried out two-day exercises aimed at confronting foreign threats, during which ballistic missiles and cruise missiles were launched at mock targets in the Gulf.
In a related context, the commander-in-chief of the Iranian army, Major General Amir Hatami, affirmed that the Iranian army is continuously working to enhance its readiness to confront any threat, including asymmetric and irregular warfare.
Hatami said: We closely monitor all enemy movements and will respond firmly to any act of aggression.
In remarks made during his inspection of army units in the western region last Monday, Hatami pointed to the readiness and capabilities of Iranian army units.
He added: The army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with determination and resolve, has undertaken everything necessary in confronting the enemies of the homeland and has been able to carry out all drills and exercises in accordance with military standards, particularly passive defence, in a manner suited to the battlefield environment.
In June, Israel, with American support, launched a war against Iran that lasted 12 days, to which Tehran responded, before the United States announced a ceasefire.
Expectations of a new war against Iran are increasing, and this issue is overshadowing the anticipated meeting later this month between US President Donald Trump and Netanyahu.
