The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has officially announced that it has delivered its response to the ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump concerning the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
In a formal statement, Hamas confirmed its acceptance of Trump’s plan to halt Israeli aggression against Gaza. The movement declared its agreement to release all Israeli captives—both alive and the remains of the deceased—within a prisoner exchange framework as outlined in Trump’s proposal, provided that appropriate field conditions are secured for the exchange process.
Hamas further affirmed its readiness to immediately engage, through mediators, in negotiations to discuss the details of the exchange. It also reiterated its willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to an independent Palestinian technocratic body, based on national consensus and backed by Arab and Islamic support.
At the same time, the movement stressed that issues raised in Trump’s proposal concerning Gaza’s future and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people cannot be decided unilaterally. These matters, Hamas insisted, must be addressed through a comprehensive national Palestinian framework rooted in international law and relevant UN resolutions, in which Hamas would actively participate with full responsibility.
Full Text of Hamas’ Response
In its official statement, Hamas said:
“Out of concern for ending the aggression and genocide inflicted upon our steadfast people in Gaza, and stemming from our national responsibility and commitment to our people’s rights and sacred principles, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has conducted extensive consultations within its leadership, with Palestinian factions, with mediators and with friends, to reach a responsible position regarding President Donald Trump’s ceasefire initiative.
After thorough study, Hamas has decided and conveyed the following response to the mediators:
Hamas appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as those of President Trump, aimed at stopping the war on Gaza, enabling prisoner exchange, allowing immediate humanitarian aid, rejecting the occupation of Gaza, and refusing the forced displacement of our people.
Accordingly, and in the framework of achieving a complete ceasefire and full withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas announces its agreement to release all Israeli captives, alive and dead, in line with the exchange formula contained in President Trump’s proposal, with field conditions secured for the exchange process. Hamas confirms its readiness to immediately engage in negotiations, through mediators, to discuss the details.
Hamas also reiterates its agreement to hand over the administration of Gaza to a Palestinian technocratic body formed on the basis of national consensus and backed by Arab and Islamic support.
As for other matters in President Trump’s proposal relating to Gaza’s future and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, these are tied to a collective national decision, based on international laws and resolutions. Such issues will be addressed within a comprehensive Palestinian framework, in which Hamas will responsibly take part.”
Trump and Netanyahu Announce Ceasefire Plan
On Monday, Trump appeared at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he outlined the main points of his 20-clause proposal to halt the war.
The plan calls for:
- The release of Israeli captives in Gaza within 72 hours.
- The disarmament of Hamas.
- A full ceasefire.
- The formation of an international supervisory body, chaired by Trump, to train and oversee a governing administration for Gaza—explicitly excluding Hamas from participation.

Escalating Israeli Aggression in Gaza
The announcement of Trump’s plan comes as the Israeli occupation army continues its ground deployment across major sectors of Gaza City, alongside relentless bombardment and destruction of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. These operations are part of its broader effort to impose control over the city and force Palestinians from their homeland.
Since 7 October 2023, Israel—with full American backing—has waged a campaign of genocide in Gaza. According to updated figures:
- 66,148 Palestinians have been martyred,
- 168,716 have been injured, the majority being women and children,
- and famine has claimed the lives of 455 Palestinians, including 151 children.
