Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Gaza — admitted on Monday that Israel has entered a state of isolation because of its ongoing war, calling for a strategy to confront the fallout.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, Netanyahu acknowledged: “Israel is entering a state of isolation because of the war, and we must face this.” He warned that the country could soon encounter major obstacles in its international economy, including potential bans on its military industries worldwide.
Israel’s public broadcaster Kan reported Netanyahu further claimed that Qatar and China are imposing a kind of blockade on Israel, particularly in the spheres of international legitimacy and digital media influence.
Despite widespread criticism, Netanyahu insisted he rejected what he called “claims of failure in Qatar,” referring to last week’s Israeli airstrike on a building in Doha where a Hamas negotiating delegation was meeting to discuss the latest U.S. ceasefire proposal for Gaza. “It was important to send a message that Hamas leaders are not beyond reach, and that message was delivered,” he said, as quoted by Channel 7.
Attempted Assassination in Doha
On Tuesday, the Israeli occupation army carried out an airstrike in Doha targeting senior Hamas leaders. The attack — condemned by Qatar, which asserted its right to respond — killed a member of Qatar’s internal security forces.
Hamas later confirmed that its delegation, led by Gaza political chief Khalil al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt. However, the strike killed his office director Jihad Lubad, Lubad’s son Hammam al-Hayya, and three bodyguards.
The attack on Qatari sovereignty sparked Arab and international condemnation, with calls to hold Tel Aviv accountable and curb its violations of international law.
Genocide in Gaza
Since October 7, 2023, Israel — backed by the United States — has been carrying out a genocide in Gaza marked by mass killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement. According to the Gaza Government Media Office, the campaign has so far killed 64,905 Palestinians, wounded 164,926, and caused famine deaths of 425 Palestinians, including 145 children.
