The Hebrew daily Maariv has warned of the grave dangers of dragging the Zionist entity into a direct confrontation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stressing that the situation with Ankara is far different from Israel’s recent aggression in Doha.
Following the Doha strike, Israeli leaders declared that “there is no safe place for terrorists in suits.” The paper asked a sharp question: “Would Israel dare strike Hamas leaders if they were meeting in Ankara?”
Erdoğan’s Firm Stance Against Israel
Since assuming power in 2003, Erdoğan has pursued an increasingly anti-Israel policy. He has hosted and supported leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, suspended commercial relations with Tel Aviv, backed Sunni militias that toppled the Assad regime, and today strengthens Turkey’s military presence in Syria.
The paper noted that the difference between Qatar and Turkey is fundamental. While Doha relies heavily on oil and gas reserves and lacks any real military weight, Ankara is a regional powerhouse:
- Its territory is 36 times larger than Israel’s.
- Its population is nine times greater.
- Its gross domestic product is three times higher.
- It possesses a solid industrial base.
Military Power: Turkey Ranks Ninth Worldwide
Maariv emphasised that Turkey fields a military ranked ninth globally, alongside a navy far superior to that of the occupation.
Although Israel maintains technological superiority, the article warned that Ankara is steadily closing the gap — a development Tel Aviv cannot afford to ignore.
Strategic Limits for Israel
The paper concluded that Erdoğan’s continued leadership means Israel will face more confrontations and provocations in the region. It urged Tel Aviv to put aside arrogance and recognise the limits of its power, stressing that:
- Any Israeli attack on Turkey would be a catastrophic strategic mistake.
- A repeat of the Doha-style assassination operation on Turkish soil is unimaginable.

Arab world need to come together.
Dear editor,
Trust you’re doing well over there. Well-done fir the good work.
I need to comment on this article for very profound reasons. Let me start by asking: Since when did Muslims start to place their trust in or believe they could defeat their enemies by virtue of their military arsenal without my even adding military prowess. The two together aren’t at any rate guarantees for a win by Islamic standards
Please I need to be enlightened maybe am seeing things in a rather poor light
Any way am not writing a rebuttal but I do feel that for may young ones reading this articles across the world there is a need for an erratum or clarification just so that their eeman is not built on values that don’t necessarily sync with Islam. Thanks
Sulaiman A
