The Hebrew Broadcasting Authority claimed that the United States, Qatar, and Egypt are expected to present a new proposal this week aimed at reaching an agreement between the occupying state and Hamas. The plan reportedly includes the release of all prisoners, an end to the war, and the establishment of a governing authority in Gaza.
According to the outlet, Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, a close confidant of Netanyahu and head of the negotiation team, is expected to travel to the United States this week for consultations with senior officials in the Trump administration.
This development coincides with the arrival of a Hamas delegation in Cairo. In a statement issued Saturday evening, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the August 18 agreement reached with Palestinian factions regarding the mediators’ ceasefire proposal.
Hamas declared that it remains open to “any idea or proposal that could achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, the full withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the unconditional entry of humanitarian aid, and a prisoner exchange through serious negotiations mediated by third parties.”
At the same time, Israeli journalist Amit Segal revealed in Israel Hayom that a new “secret” political plan concerning Gaza is being shaped through American-Israeli coordination. Unlike earlier proposals that focused on either a temporary truce or full military occupation of the Strip, this plan aims for a broader political framework.
Segal reported that “the plan aims to link the ongoing military offensive in Gaza to a wider political track involving moderate Sunni Arab states, in the hope that this will bring the war to an end through a comprehensive settlement.”
He added that the Israeli army “is preparing for a stage different from previous rounds of fighting, after military documents revealed a disregard for international timelines.”
Segal further explained that “the idea resembles Apple’s model—where the product is designed in one place and assembled in another. In this case, the ideas are born in Tel Aviv but marketed in Washington.”
According to the paper, Minister Ron Dermer is leading the coordination between Washington and Abu Dhabi in an effort to formulate a political vision for Gaza’s future. This signals a shift toward combining military operations with international political steps aimed at ending the war and reaching a settlement.
