Cairo has issued a stark warning about the consequences of any large-scale Israeli assault on Gaza, similar to the devastation witnessed in Khan Younis earlier this year, according to Al-Akhbar (Lebanon).
Egypt Strengthens Border Deployment
Egyptian officials involved in the Egyptian–American–Israeli tripartite committee — tasked with overseeing the Camp David Accords — confirmed that the Egyptian army has informed both Tel Aviv and Washington of its decision to reinforce its military presence in Zone C, the area adjacent to the Gaza border.
According to Egyptian sources cited by Al-Akhbar:
- Full deployment with heavy arms will take place along the entire border strip.
- The move is designed to secure the frontier and block any infiltration attempts.
- Cairo anticipates a real threat of mass displacement if Israel attempts to storm Gaza City, where over half a million people remain trapped.
With southern Gaza already overcrowded by internally displaced civilians, Egypt fears a wave of desperate Palestinians could push toward the border fence, sparking a humanitarian and security crisis.
The sources added that logistical and administrative preparations are underway to receive new military units in the border zone. This is not the first reinforcement: since the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in October 2023, Egypt has quadrupled its troop presence in the area.
Netanyahu Rejects Partial Ceasefire Proposals
The build-up comes as Israel’s ground offensive intensifies. Netanyahu’s government reportedly told mediators it will not accept any partial ceasefire deals for Gaza.
Meanwhile, the occupation army continues its campaign of indiscriminate bombardment, siege, and starvation policies.
