In an interview with the Hebrew-language channel i24, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu openly declared that he sees himself on a “historic and spiritual mission”, affirming his commitment to the so-called “Greater Israel” vision — a colonial expansionist concept that, according to Zionist claims, encompasses the occupied Palestinian territories as well as parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt.
The Times of Israel quoted Netanyahu as saying he considers himself engaged in a “mission of generations” on behalf of the Jewish people.
“When I see that I have accomplished all that I need to accomplish — and I still have many tasks ahead — I will continue,” he said.
The “Greater Israel” Concept
The term “Greater Israel” emerged prominently after the June 1967 war, referring to the lands seized by Israel during its military occupation, including occupied Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, and the Golan Heights.
This ideology has long served as a political and religious justification for Israel’s territorial expansion — in direct violation of international law and the rights of indigenous peoples in the region.
War on Gaza: No Partial Deal
On the war against Gaza, Netanyahu declared that the so-called “partial deal” over the Strip is now off the table. He vowed to end the war on Israel’s own terms, including the return of all Israeli captives.
“There are reservations about me from both the left and the right,” he claimed, “but I am the one who decides, and every decision I have made was correct.”
His remarks signal a continuation of Israel’s indiscriminate military campaign in Gaza, rejecting any negotiated settlement that does not conform to Israel’s objectives.
Expansionist Propaganda
In January, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a propaganda map claiming the existence of a “Jewish kingdom” thousands of years ago that allegedly encompassed large parts of Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt. The move was widely seen as part of Israel’s ongoing territorial narrative warfare to legitimise its colonial project.
Decades of Occupation
For decades, Israel has illegally occupied Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese lands, refusing to withdraw or recognise the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Its policies remain rooted in settler-colonialism and expansionism, with “Greater Israel” serving as both a political slogan and a long-term strategy.
