The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced on Monday that it carried out rocket and mortar strikes against strategic Israeli military sites in the Gaza Strip, as part of its ongoing response to the genocidal war waged by the occupation for nearly 22 months.
In its first statement, al-Qassam said its fighters targeted an Israeli command-and-control site on al-Sawran hill, east of al-Tuffah neighbourhood in Gaza City, using several mortar shells.
In a second statement, the Brigades confirmed a similar strike against another command-and-control site along the Salah al-Din axis, near al-Zu‘rub hill south of Rafah, using a short-range rocket system with 114 mm calibre munitions.
The Israeli occupation army has issued no official response to these operations. Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance factions continue to repel the ongoing Israeli aggression and genocide in Gaza under the battle named “Al-Aqsa Flood.”
Ongoing Israeli Aggression Since October 2023
The Palestinian territories have witnessed relentless escalation since the Israeli assault on Gaza began on 7 October 2023. Tel Aviv continues its campaign of mass killings, starvation, and destruction, backed directly by the United States, while ignoring international calls and rulings by the International Court of Justice to halt its attacks.
According to official Palestinian reports, Israel’s devastating operations have killed over 61,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children, wounded more than 153,000, and left around 9,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has spread, claiming countless lives in the besieged enclave.
