Saudi political scientist and writer Dr. Khalid al-Dakhil has laid bare the full dimensions of Gaza’s tragedy under Israel’s all-out assault, stating:
“This is Gaza’s time. We must return to it again and again, because this deliberately afflicted strip—by Netanyahu’s state—has once more revealed what Israel refused to openly declare.”
In a post on his X account, al-Dakhil revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a plan aimed at full control over Gaza and the forced displacement of its population to Arab countries—particularly Jordan and Egypt—with U.S. promises to finance the reception of these displaced Palestinians.
Gaza Under Siege and Starvation
Al-Dakhil explained that Israel has shifted to relentless bombing of Gaza while imposing a total blockade that prevents food and medicine from reaching the population, causing people to die of hunger, especially children. Even those waiting to receive humanitarian food aid have been targeted by Israeli strikes.
According to him, Israel’s objective is to turn Gaza into an “uninhabitable zone”, pressuring Palestinians to flee to neighbouring Arab states willing to accept them, with the backing and funding of the U.S. administration.
A Strategy Decades in the Making
From a strategic perspective, al-Dakhil stressed that this policy is part of a long-standing Israeli doctrine that predates the establishment of the so-called state of Israel. Its pillars include:
- Possession of nuclear weapons
- Refusal to set final borders
- Continuous settlement expansion to seize land by force
- Rejection of all Arab peace initiatives—from Anwar al-Sadat’s 1977 proposal to the 2002 Beirut Summit initiative
Al-Dakhil emphasised that Israel has never offered an official peace initiative since its founding, maintaining an absolute rejection of any just and equitable peace.
One-Sided Normalisation
The Saudi academic also highlighted another stark reality:
“Five Arab states and the Palestine Liberation Organization have normalised relations with Israel and recognised its legitimacy. Yet Israel has never reciprocated by recognising a Palestinian state or the legitimacy of its existence.”
He described this Arab recognition of the so-called Jewish state as “free of charge”, without any political return or justification, further exposing the imbalance in peace arrangements and adding complexity to the crisis.
Gaza’s Ordeal: Not a Temporary Tragedy
Al-Dakhil warned that Israel’s current escalation in Gaza, combined with its ongoing refusal of any political solution, leaves Palestinians in a profound humanitarian and political predicament. He underscored that the suffering of Gaza is not a temporary emergency, but part of a strategic plan to dismantle the Palestinian cause and displace its people.
