Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023, the aggression has extended far beyond bombs and rubble. According to leading human rights experts, Israel has launched a systematic starvation campaign against the besieged Palestinian population—an invisible war waged on the most vulnerable.
Despite escalating warnings from UN agencies and humanitarian organisations, the full extent of this weaponised hunger is only now becoming clear. And at the heart of this silent war lies the complicity of powerful international actors—most notably, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
A Siege Turned Genocide
The renewed Israeli blockade is not a mere “security measure.” It bears the marks of deliberate, calculated genocide. Verified reports show that Israel intentionally blocked the entry of food, medicine, and fuel into the Gaza Strip, plunging over two million civilians into an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
Human Rights Watch described these Israeli policies as “a war crime of genocide by starvation,” emphasising that the objective extends far beyond collective punishment—towards forced displacement or death by attrition.
The United States: Chief Enabler
The United States has positioned itself not only as Israel’s political and military backer but also as a co-architect of the siege. Washington funded the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)—a parallel aid network operating under joint Israeli-American supervision.
UN officials and independent observers have described GHF as a cover for engineered displacement, with distribution points becoming deadly traps. In a single week, over 70 Palestinians were killed and more than 120 injured while waiting for aid near GHF locations.
Amnesty International condemned the foundation’s activities as “a form of weaponised starvation”, calling for its immediate dismantling and a return to neutral humanitarian mechanisms.
Censorship and Concealment by the U.S. Government
The crisis worsens with reports of U.S. pressure to suppress the truth. Former officials revealed that American diplomats were instructed to downplay hunger-related deaths in official reports. Even a planned famine alert—set to be issued by USAID—was withdrawn under pressure from the White House.
Such acts of political censorship not only deny justice to the victims but also obstruct life-saving intervention by the international community.
The UAE’s Complicit Role in Engineering the Blockade
In parallel, the United Arab Emirates has played a central—and deeply troubling—role. In May 2025, Abu Dhabi brokered a so-called Global Aid Corridor deal with Israel, ostensibly to facilitate humanitarian relief.
However, the corridor has since proven to be a façade for maintaining the blockade, offering cosmetic legitimacy to Israel’s starvation policy. Aid routes have become tools of manipulation—deployed to sustain the very siege they claim to mitigate.
The UAE’s designation as a “Major Defense Partner” of the United States has intensified suspicions of its security and intelligence coordination with Israel—particularly in logistics and population control across Gaza.
Shocking Numbers, Real Famine
The humanitarian toll is staggering:
- Over 60,000 children in Gaza suffer from severe malnutrition.
- More than 500,000 Palestinians face imminent death by starvation.
The World Health Organization and the World Food Programme have issued dire warnings: if this engineered crisis persists, Gaza will face a famine of historic proportions—one without precedent in modern times.
Meanwhile, hundreds of aid trucks remain stranded at Gaza’s borders, while international relief organisations are barred from operating freely inside the Strip.
Moral and Legal Accountability
The deliberate starvation of civilians is not just a tragedy—it is a documented war crime under the Geneva Conventions. The transformation of aid into a tool of control and military pressure violates the core principles of international humanitarian law.
As one UN expert stated:
“What is unfolding in Gaza is not merely a relief crisis. It is a fully-fledged crime, orchestrated by powerful nations using aid as invisible bombs.”
