The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, released video footage on Wednesday showing its operations targeting Israeli military vehicles and soldiers in the city of Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip. These attacks come as part of a series of operations dubbed “Stones of David.”
According to Al-Qassam, the published footage documents four separate operations carried out by its fighters in Jabalia, as part of the Palestinian resistance’s ongoing response to the Israeli aggression and genocide campaign launched on October 7, 2023.
The Brigades stated that their fighters successfully targeted a Merkava tank with a Shawaz explosive device during a martyrdom operation on 12 June 2024. They also reported targeting a Zionist unit fortified inside a house with a 107 missile on 3 July.
On 4 July, fighters struck an Israeli bulldozer with a shock-charge device, which led to the confirmed death of a soldier, according to the Israeli army’s own announcement. Later, on 16 July, Al-Qassam fighters hit an armoured personnel carrier with a Yassin-105 anti-armour missile.
On Tuesday, Al-Qassam announced another strike on an Israeli armoured personnel carrier using a Yassin-105 in the southeast of Deir al-Balah, as part of the escalating ground battles in the region.
In a brief statement, the Brigades confirmed the strike occurred near the Abu Holi junction, without detailing casualties among the Israeli forces.
In a related announcement, Al-Qassam claimed responsibility for killing and wounding Israeli soldiers after destroying an armoured vehicle in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on 12 July.
Due to the intense conditions of warfare, including severe communication and movement restrictions, Al-Qassam sometimes delays announcements until its fighters have safely withdrawn from operational zones.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the Brigades said their fighters had detonated a high-powered barrel explosive device against a Zionist armoured personnel carrier, confirming it was destroyed, and the crew members were either killed or wounded in the al-Satr al-Gharbi area, north of Khan Younis.
Al-Qassam reported that enemy casualties were airlifted by helicopter, with evacuation operations continuing for several hours.
In another operation, the Brigades announced that on Monday, their fighters detonated a pre-rigged house on a Zionist force of 10 soldiers in al-Mashru’, east of Rafah, in southern Gaza. The building collapsed entirely, killing and injuring the occupying force.
This wave of attacks comes amid intensifying field confrontations, as the Israeli occupation forces push forward with ground incursions around Deir al-Balah in an attempt to expand their military campaign. The assault has already led to massacres against Palestinian civilians, under continued U.S. support and in defiance of International Court of Justice orders to halt the war.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced on Tuesday the death of a reserve officer during combat in southern Gaza, bringing the total number of Israeli military fatalities in less than 24 hours to two.
According to official occupation army statistics, the total number of Israeli soldiers killed since the start of the war on 7 October 2023 has risen to 895, including 451 soldiers killed during the ground invasion of Gaza, which began on 27 October.
The same statistics report that 6,108 Israeli soldiers have been injured so far, including 2,803 wounded during ground combat. However, field reports and independent media suggest that the Israeli army is heavily censoring information related to its casualties, indicating that the real figures are likely significantly higher than officially stated.
