The military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, Al-Quds Brigades, announced on Sunday that it had shelled a command and control headquarters belonging to the Israeli occupation army using standard 60mm mortar rounds. The target was located at the “Al-Muhandis Hall” site in the Al-Satar Al-Gharbi area, north of Khan Younis.
In a statement, the group declared:
“We targeted the position with mortar fire shortly after the enemy troops returned from combat lines.”
Additionally, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed that its fighters successfully sniped an Israeli soldier positioned atop a Merkava tank near Al-Nasirah School on Baghdad Street in the Al-Shuja’iyya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, on July 11, 2025.
In a related operation, Al-Qassam fighters, in coordination with Al-Quds Brigades, targeted three Israeli Merkava tanks using Shawaz and Thaqib explosive devices and a Tandem warhead, near Al-Ridwan Mosque in Al-Shuja’iyya, on July 7, 2025.
According to Al-Quds Brigades, these strikes are part of the broader armed response by Palestinian resistance factions to what they describe as a genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation in Gaza since October 7, 2023, with full backing from the United States. The campaign includes mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement — all in defiance of international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the aggression.
Humanitarian Crisis Escalates: Massacres at Aid Distribution Points
In a separate development, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that the number of Palestinians killed while waiting for humanitarian aid since early Sunday has reached 73 martyrs, including 67 killed in northern Gaza alone. The ministry confirmed over 150 wounded, many in critical condition.
Local sources confirmed that Israeli occupation forces opened direct fire on approximately 200 civilians in northwest Gaza who had gathered in desperation near aid trucks in search of flour. The assault left dozens dead or wounded.
Separately, at least three Palestinians were martyred and more than 20 others injured by Israeli gunfire near the Al-Shakoush aid centre north of Rafah, in southern Gaza.
Global Solidarity Campaign Gains Momentum
Social media platforms around the world saw a massive wave of activity in recent hours, calling for a global day of action on Sunday — including demonstrations and strikes — in solidarity with Gaza, which remains under blockade-induced famine.
Platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram were filled with harrowing posts and videos showing children, women, and the elderly suffering from starvation, emaciation, and displacement amid scenes of devastation. Voices from both within Gaza and the international community are demanding urgent intervention to open border crossings and allow the entry of food and humanitarian relief.
Activists rallied around the Arabic hashtag #غزة_تموت_جوعا (#Gaza_Is_Starving), calling for widespread Arab and international participation in Sunday’s global mobilisation.
