Video clips from the funeral and memorial service of the Israeli occupation army soldier Avraham Azulai revealed that he openly boasted about demolishing Palestinian homes in Gaza, as stated by one of his friends during the eulogy.
One of Azulai’s friends, speaking at the service, described how the soldier — who was taken out by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza during an ambush on occupation vehicles — used to take pride in his work demolishing homes. “He would say: ‘Now 200 Palestinians will not return to Gaza, today 500 will not return,’” referring to the ongoing destruction of their houses.
Earlier, new footage released by Al-Qassam Brigades showed their fighters eliminating an Israeli soldier at point-blank range during the battles in Khan Yunis, after they were unable to capture him due to field constraints.
In the dramatic footage, part of Al-Qassam’s “Stones of David” operations, fighters stormed a gathering of occupation soldiers and vehicles, targeting two military vehicles and two armoured bulldozers (‘Baghers’). They also attempted to capture one of the Israeli soldiers in the large Abasan area, east of Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza.
The footage shows an Al-Qassam fighter striking an armoured bulldozer (Bagher) with a “Yassin 105” shell in Abasan Al-Kabira, then pursuing the fleeing soldier who tried to escape towards the ruins of a destroyed house — only to be shot at point-blank range by a resistance fighter.
Al-Qassam published images of three weapons seized from the scene: a Glock pistol and two American-made M4 rifles.
The new footage exposed the false narrative pushed by the Israeli army regarding what actually happened in the Khan Yunis ambush.
In an official statement released last night, an Israeli army spokesperson claimed that a soldier was killed in Gaza on Wednesday after armed fighters emerged from underground tunnels, attacked the forces, and attempted to kidnap a soldier operating a bulldozer.
“The soldier resisted them, so the gunmen shot and killed him. Security forces in the area fired back, wounded some of the attackers, and foiled the kidnapping attempt,” the statement read.
However, the footage released by Al-Qassam is being described by Hebrew media outlets as a scandal for the occupation army. The video shows the soldier fleeing the scene as soon as the attack began and being chased by the resistance fighters.
Israeli writer Zeev Rubenstein commented on the Al-Qassam video: “Hamas released harsh footage from the incident with the bulldozer in Khan Yunis, in which the soldier’s weapon ends up in enemy hands. By sheer luck, the soldier’s body did not end up with them as well. It is unclear how they move so freely in the field with weapons and cameras to document the event… deeply frustrating.”
