The Al-Qassam Brigades have revealed that their fighters attempted to capture an Israeli occupation soldier in the Abasan al-Kabira area, east of Khan Younis, during a large-scale attack carried out against a significant Israeli force in the area.
In an official military statement, Al-Qassam explained that their fighters targeted a Merkava tank and an armoured personnel carrier with Yassin 105 shells, and also struck two military bulldozers with explosive projectiles.
The statement added that the fighters advanced towards the occupation soldiers, engaged them with light weapons, and attempted to capture one of the soldiers. However, the battlefield conditions did not allow it, so they eliminated him and seized his weapon.
The brigades confirmed that they observed the evacuation operation by Israeli military helicopters.
Earlier, the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, stated that the occupation will suffer additional losses in the ongoing war of attrition that the brigades are waging across the Gaza Strip. His remarks came in response to the Beit Hanoun ambush in which five Israeli soldiers were killed.
Abu Ubaida said, “Even though the occupation recently managed to rescue its soldiers from the inferno by a miracle, it may fail next time — and they will end up as additional captives in our hands.”
He continued, “The complex Beit Hanoun operation is yet another blow delivered by our valiant fighters to the so-called prestige of the fragile occupation army and its most criminal units — in a battlefield they believed was secure after leaving no stone unturned.”
He stressed, “It is the steadfastness of our people and the bravery of our courageous resistance fighters that shape the equations and define the next phase. The most foolish decision Netanyahu could make now is to keep his forces inside the Gaza Strip.”
Yesterday, the Israeli occupation army announced that five soldiers were killed and 14 others were wounded in the complex ambush in the town of Beit Hanoun, at the far northeastern edge of the Gaza Strip.
Reports confirmed that 16 soldiers were injured during the ambush in Gaza, including some in critical condition.
