Israeli media have confirmed that 16 soldiers were wounded during the security incident in the northern Gaza Strip, with several in critical condition. Reports indicated that five soldiers were killed, ten injured, and one remains listed as missing.
The first incident in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, involved the detonation of an explosive device targeting an armoured vehicle carrying soldiers.
The second incident, also in Beit Hanoun, involved the targeting of a robot loaded with munitions while it was being prepared for use.
Israeli news outlets reported that one of the wounded in this security incident is a senior officer.
They further reported that additional soldiers were severely burned in northern Gaza, describing the scene as reminiscent of a previous operation in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, when occupation soldiers were burned alive.
Hebrew media also confirmed that at least two soldiers have been killed in the ongoing security incident in northern Gaza, adding that “fire belts and real chaos dominate the field.”
They noted that the security operation in northern Gaza remains active and continues to evolve, with more soldiers killed and armoured vehicles engulfed in flames.
The incident specifically targeted the Nahal Brigade, which had recently taken over operational control in northern Gaza.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), commented on the Beit Hanoun operation late Monday night, declaring: “We will shatter the prestige of your army.” In another statement, they warned: “Anticipate a series of death ambushes in Beit Hanoun.”
The Brigades posted a statement overnight on their Telegram channel, signed by the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades on 25 June, stating: “The coffins and corpses of the enemy’s army will remain a constant scene as long as the aggression continues.”
At least 62 Palestinians, including children, have been martyred and dozens injured since dawn on Monday, as a result of relentless Israeli attacks that struck multiple areas across the Gaza Strip — part of the ongoing genocide campaign waged by the Israeli occupation army for the past 21 months.
Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombardment targeted homes, tents sheltering displaced families, medical clinics, civilian gatherings, shelters, and civilian vehicles, resulting in new massacres throughout the Gaza Strip.
Since 7 October 2023, the occupation has waged a genocidal war in Gaza, leaving more than 194,000 Palestinians martyred or wounded — the majority of them children and women — with over 10,000 still missing, alongside hundreds of thousands displaced and a famine that has claimed countless lives, including children.
