A spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army’s Arabic media, Avichay Adraee, has released video footage and images documenting an overnight operation conducted by Israeli forces in southern Syria, revealing selected details of the raid.
According to Adraee, the operation was aimed at capturing members of what he described as an “Iranian cell.” He stated, “Last night, troops from the 474th Brigade of the 210th Division carried out a special operation to apprehend a cell of militants activated by Iran in the Umm Al-Luqs and Ain Al-Basli areas in southern Syria. The operation was carried out in coordination with field investigators from Unit 504.”
He further claimed that, “Based on intelligence gathered over recent weeks during investigations, brigade forces conducted a focused overnight mission that resulted in the arrest of several militants. In addition, during the operation, the troops discovered combat equipment, including firearms and hand grenade,s in the area where the cell members were captured.”
Adraee concluded, “The division’s forces continue their efforts to prevent the establishment of any terrorist presence in Syria, aiming to protect Israeli citizens, especially the residents of the occupied Golan Heights.”
Separately, on Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi violated Syrian territory, carrying out an inspection tour of an area illegally occupied by Israel.
A statement by the Israeli military confirmed, “Today, Halevi conducted a field tour and security assessment on Syrian soil.”
During the visit, Halevi made remarks from inside Syrian territory, stating, “We have long been engaged in a multi-front campaign, which last week reached another peak,” referring to the recent Israeli-Iranian confrontations between June 13 and June 24.
Halevi claimed that Israel is inflicting “severe blows on all components of the axis established by Iran” against it. He added, “Now we are moving forcefully against the head of this axis — the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” emphasising the need for the Israeli military to maintain “high readiness and constant vigilance.”
He continued, “Our defence on the Golan front takes place in a forward defensive area, and we take the initiative to neutralise threats,” according to his statements.
Halevi further threatened, “We will strike any tangible threat, existing or emerging, anywhere as needed.” He also suggested that “Syria is disintegrating and undergoing change” following the collapse of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in late 2024.
Justifying the occupation’s recent seizure of areas inside Syria, Halevi declared, “We are holding on to key positions in this Arab country and will continue to operate beyond the border to defend ourselves in the best possible way.”
