Israeli media reported that multiple wounded soldiers were evacuated last night following a “serious security incident” in Khan Younis, amid claims that Israeli forces were caught in a new Palestinian ambush. Simultaneously, various areas across the Gaza Strip were hit by renewed Israeli airstrikes, resulting in multiple martyrs and injuries.
The Hebrew outlet Hadshot Hamot described intense combat in Khan Younis, stating that Israeli warplanes were called in to support engineering units engaged in the area. Multiple military helicopters attempted evacuations under fire, reportedly to extract wounded soldiers.
Settler social media platforms echoed reports of a severe military incident, noting that helicopters transported injured troops to Israeli hospitals. However, the incident remains under Israeli military censorship, with no official details released.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera’s correspondent confirmed ongoing aerial and artillery bombardment, along with gunfire from drones and tanks in northwestern Khan Younis.
Resistance Ambush in Khan Younis
This comes just days after six Israeli soldiers and senior officers were killed in a high-profile ambush in Khan Younis, claimed by the al-Qassam Brigades (the armed wing of Hamas). The operation saw Qassam fighters detonate an explosive inside an armoured vehicle, killing several soldiers by fire. The incident triggered growing calls within Israel to halt the war on Gaza.
Continued Israeli Bombardment Across Gaza
In the early hours of Friday, the Israeli military launched fresh strikes across Gaza, including attacks on civilians waiting for humanitarian aid.
A Palestinian civilian was martyred and five others injured when Israeli forces targeted a group of people awaiting aid in southern Wadi Gaza, in the heart of the besieged Strip.
Palestinian sources also reported artillery shelling on the Zaytoun and Shuja’iyya neighbourhoods in southern and eastern Gaza City. Additionally, Israeli warplanes struck Jabalia and Beit Lahia in the northern part of the Strip.
In southern Gaza, airstrikes hit residential homes in central Khan Younis. Palestinian medical sources confirmed that a doctor and his niece were killed when Israeli jets bombed a tent shelter in al-Mawasi, west of the city.
Rising Death Toll in Gaza
According to hospital reports in Gaza, 72 Palestinians were killed on Thursday alone, including seven civilians near food aid distribution centres.
The martyrs were reported across several regions: Khan Younis and Rafah in the south, Deir al-Balah in the centre, and Gaza City and Jabalia in the north.
Following Israel’s collapse of the March ceasefire agreement, its military campaign has intensified dramatically. Since then, nearly 6,000 Palestinians have been martyred, and over 20,000 injured, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
What a sad state of affairs of the double standards of the so called freedom and democracy of the evil of the champions of the west and it’s allies, truth shall prevail and falsehood shall perish. We pray that God bless them with love for humanity aman.
