In a defiant address to the Iranian parliament, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, issued a stern warning to former U.S. President Donald Trump, stating unequivocally that Iran is not like Western nations that tremble at threats. He declared that the Islamic Republic would never accept war nor peace imposed upon it by foreign powers.
Ghalibaf, a former commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), harshly criticised U.S. policy, accusing Washington of using negotiations not as a means for mutual agreement, but as a strategy to disarm and weaken Iran.
“The behaviour of the American president reveals deceptive intentions,” he said.
“Negotiations under threat will not lift sanctions — they will only humiliate the Iranian people.”
Resistance Against American Coercion
Ghalibaf emphasised that Iran rejects all U.S. overtures that come from a position of dominance, stressing that Tehran views such messages as coercive attempts to dictate terms rather than pursue diplomacy.
“If the United States violates Iran’s sovereignty,” Ghalibaf warned,
“the entire region will ignite, and neither your military bases nor strategic assets will remain safe.”
These remarks come amid growing regional volatility, particularly with escalating threats between Tehran and Tel Aviv, increased speculation over potential pre-emptive strikes from either side, and the continued deadlock in nuclear negotiations.
The last round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States stalled months ago, leaving a vacuum filled with military posturing and rising tension across the Middle East.
A Unified Iranian Stance: The Era of Submission Is Over
Ghalibaf’s speech reflects a broader hardening of Iran’s internal position, aligning with statements from other senior Iranian officials that “the era of submission is over.” The consistent message from Tehran is that Washington must abandon its reliance on brute force and coercive diplomacy.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has repeatedly denounced negotiations under duress, describing the American approach as rooted in political thuggery. This rhetoric mirrors the tone adopted by conservative power figures like Ghalibaf and signals an entrenched resistance to Western pressure.
Stalemate and Escalation: Where Is the Region Headed?
Despite the existence of several indirect communication channels between Iran and the United States — facilitated by regional and international mediators — the inflammatory tone from both capitals signals a widening rift. Without a fundamental shift in strategy, the current stalemate could easily spill into broader military confrontation.
Analysts warn that unless significant diplomatic breakthroughs occur in the coming weeks, the conflict could expand to new arenas across the region, dragging in more players and compounding instability.
For Iran, the message remains clear:
No external power will dictate its destiny — neither through war nor conditional peace.
This work demands time, pressure, and sacrifice.
But we do it—for the Ummah, and for the truth.
