Israeli media outlets have reported what they called a “security incident” in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood east of Gaza City — a term often used to obscure Palestinian resistance operations against the occupying Israeli forces, which continue their brutal assault on the Gaza Strip.
Simultaneously, Israeli sources confirmed that a military helicopter landed at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in occupied Jerusalem, reportedly transporting soldiers wounded during the operation in Shuja’iyya.
Later updates revealed that an Israeli soldier sustained critical injuries after being targeted by sniper fire in the same area. Al Jazeera’s Gaza correspondent reported heavy Israeli artillery shelling and smoke bomb deployment over Shuja’iyya during the incident.
Notably, the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced earlier that its fighters had neutralised two Israeli soldiers at point-blank range on al-Nazzaz Street in eastern Shuja’iyya just last Tuesday.
In another recent operation, al-Qassam also reported that it targeted an Israeli D9 military bulldozer with a Yassin-105 anti-tank shell near the Yarmouk site in the al-Manara neighbourhood of Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
Meanwhile, a newly emerging group identifying itself as the Martyr Mohammed Deif Brigades released a video showing what it described as a missile strike on concentrations of Israeli soldiers near the Gaza envelope using three rockets.
Israeli Missile Misfires — Catastrophe Narrowly Averted
On the ground, Israel Hayom newspaper reported that Israeli forces narrowly avoided a catastrophe when a missile they launched toward Gaza malfunctioned and reversed course, landing just meters away from the very unit that fired it.
The missile triggered a major fire, which was close to spreading further. An initial investigation by the Israeli military indicated that the rocket was defective — a potentially deadly mistake amid escalating operations.
Resistance Gains Momentum
Hamas, which has intensified its tactical operations in recent days, stated that the resistance is engaging in a war of attrition in response to Israel’s genocidal campaign against Gaza’s civilians. The movement confirmed that it continues to surprise the occupation with renewed, innovative tactics on a daily basis.
Islamic Jihad’s Deadly Ambush
The al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released footage of what it described as a well-coordinated ambush in Tel al-Za’atar, east of Jabalia in northern Gaza. The video showed explosive devices and shells being prepared and planted with rudimentary tools, demonstrating the resistance’s resourcefulness under siege.
The footage captured Israeli soldiers being surveilled before entering a booby-trapped building, culminating in the detonation. The operation illustrated both strategic planning and battlefield discipline among the fighters.
