On Sunday, it was revealed that one of the symbols of the Wahhabi religion (who call themselves Salafis) in Afghanistan, Mawlawi Abu Obaidullah Mutawakkil, was killed in a prison of the “Taliban”.
A member of Mutawakil’s family said that a “Taliban party” called him, and the family was asked to hand over Mutawakil’s body, and that of his student Qari Obaidullah.
He explained that Al-Mutawakkil had been killed under torture and that his body had been completely mutilated, so that it became unrecognizable, expecting that the Wahhabi cleric had been killed several days ago.
The Taliban had arrested Mutawakil, along with one of his students, Qari Obaidullah, on August 28, without revealing the reasons for the arrest.
After the Taliban took control of Kabul, the movement released Mutawakil on August 16, but re-arrested him ten days later. Mutawakil has a large religious school with branches spread throughout Afghanistan and spreading the teachings of the Wahhabi religion.
In the same context, the official account of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” under the rule of the Taliban published a clarification regarding the killing of the religious scholar Obaidullah Mutawakkil in Kabul.
The Arabic page of the Emirate of Afghanistan indicated that the Taliban had nothing to do with the killing of the Wahhabi scholar Obaidullah Mutawakkil and one of his students in Kabul.
