The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has released details of a series of strategic ambushes targeting Israeli occupation forces in the Al-Zahraa Mosque area of Al-Jneina neighbourhood, located in eastern Rafah, southern Gaza.
In an official statement, Al-Qassam reported that its fighters executed a complex ambush targeting an Israeli engineering unit. The operation began with direct engagement at point-blank range, eliminating several soldiers before drawing additional troops toward a pre-rigged tunnel shaft.
Once the enemy advanced toward the shaft, the tunnel was detonated, causing multiple fatalities and injuries among the invading forces. Al-Qassam fighters then moved in and struck two Israeli tanks using Al-Yassin 105 anti-tank rockets, successfully damaging the vehicles. Surveillance footage confirmed the subsequent evacuation of dead and wounded Israeli soldiers from the scene.

Multiple Traps, One Objective: Repel the Occupation
In a second ambush in the same area, Al-Qassam fighters detonated an explosive-rigged house as Israeli ground forces entered on foot. The blast resulted in both deaths and injuries among the enemy.
Additionally, a personnel-targeted explosive device was used against a six-man Israeli unit operating in the neighbourhood. The explosion again left multiple casualties among the soldiers in Al-Jneina, further disrupting the enemy’s operations in Rafah.
Israel Acknowledges Losses in Gaza Battles
The Israeli military has officially confirmed the deaths of an officer and a soldier, as well as the injury of three others in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip over the past few hours.
The two slain soldiers were identified as:
-
- Noam Ravid, an officer
-
- Yahli Sarur, a combat engineer from the elite Yahalom Unit of the Israeli Engineering Corps.
Both were reportedly killed in action during confrontations in southern Gaza, with earlier reports from Hadashot Lo Tzensor indicating that they perished in a tunnel explosion in Rafah—consistent with Al-Qassam’s announcement.
Mounting Casualties Across the War Front
In another incident, an Israeli reservist from Battalion 7007 suffered critical injuries during battles in northern Gaza.
Separately, two Israeli armored corps soldiers from Battalion 46 of the 401st Brigade were wounded—one seriously—when a malfunctioning tank shell exploded during an attempted launch in Al-Tuffah neighbourhood in eastern Gaza.
According to Israeli military figures, over 850 officers and soldiers have been killed since October 7, 2023. Of those, 410 were killed during the ongoing ground offensive in Gaza since October 27. These figures include Israeli military casualties across Gaza, southern Lebanon, and the West Bank.
