Tensions are once again flaring between Pakistan and India, with Islamabad announcing it has received intelligence indicating a potential Indian strike within the next 36 hours.
Indian media outlets reported Wednesday morning that the Pakistani military opened fire along the Line of Control in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region.
In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he had granted the armed forces “full operational freedom” to respond to Pakistan.

“The armed forces have complete freedom to determine the method, targets, and timing of our response,” Modi declared during an emergency National Security Council meeting.
He reportedly expressed full confidence in the capabilities of the Indian military, adding:
“Our national resolve is to deliver a decisive blow to terrorism.”
The high-level meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Navy Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.
Allegations of State Terrorism
In a direct accusation, Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistani Armed Forces, stated:
“India, as a state, is committing acts of terrorism inside Pakistan.”
He revealed that a covert Indian terror network had been uncovered within Pakistani territory, and criticised India’s failure to present any credible evidence regarding the recent Pahalgam incident.
During a press briefing, Chaudhry emphasised:
“It’s been seven days since the Pahalgam incident, and India has yet to provide any proof for its baseless claims.”
He further named Indian officers and soldiers allegedly involved in orchestrating cross-border terrorist operations, and presented video footage and confessions said to be from Indian operatives who were promised money in exchange for attacking targets inside Pakistan.
Imran Khan’s Message from Prison
Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and jailed leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, delivered a defiant message to the nation from behind bars.
In a statement relayed by his lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, Khan declared:
“We are united against India, and against Modi.”
He added that the Indian Prime Minister’s aggressive rhetoric had only strengthened Pakistani unity.
Khan had previously, in 2019, publicly accused India of fabricating links between terrorism and Pakistan, asserting that New Delhi was using lies to justify hostility.
