The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released dramatic footage of an ambush it carried out in Beit Hanoun, northeast Gaza, two days ago. The operation, dubbed “Swordbreaker,” led to the killing of an Israeli soldier and the severe wounding of others, according to the group.
The video shows Qassam fighters emerging from a tunnel shaft, lying in wait for their target — a military jeep belonging to an Israeli reconnaissance unit.
As the vehicle approaches, the fighters fire an anti-armour missile, scoring a direct hit that flips the jeep. The fighters then open fire with automatic weapons, neutralising the soldiers inside.
According to a statement released by Al-Qassam, fighters waited for the Israeli reinforcement team that rushed to the scene and detonated an anti-personnel explosive, causing further casualties.

The footage also shows resistance fighters targeting a military post in Beit Hanoun with a barrage of anti-tank missiles and mortar shells, before withdrawing from the area without losses.
Another Ambush in al-Tuffah
In a separate announcement on Monday, Al-Qassam confirmed a second ambush in al-Tuffah, east of Gaza City, where a group of Israeli combat engineers was lured into a booby-trapped tunnel shaft.
In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the Brigades said: “After returning from the frontlines, our fighters confirmed they had successfully lured a Zionist engineering unit to a pre-rigged tunnel shaft. Once the unit reached the location, the trap was detonated.”

Al-Qassam claimed multiple casualties among Israeli forces in the attack, though no specific numbers were provided.
Israeli Army Acknowledges Casualties
On the evening of April 19, the Israeli military acknowledged that one officer was killed and three other soldiers, including a female officer, were seriously wounded during combat in northern Gaza.
This brings the total number of Israeli troops confirmed killed since the start of the Gaza invasion on October 7, 2023, to 847, including 408 killed during ground operations that began on October 27.
According to official military data — widely viewed as underreported — at least 5,780 Israeli soldiers and officers have been injured since the start of the war, with 2,603 wounded during ground battles alone.
These figures include casualties in Gaza, the West Bank, and southern Lebanon, where resistance operations have escalated since the war began.
