10 Dhul-Hijjah or 10/12/10 (the tenth day of the twelfth month) is the thirty-fifth day after the three hundred (335) days of the year (or the thirty-sixth after the three hundred if the month of Ramadan completes the thirty or thirty-seventh day after The three hundred if each of Safar, Rabi’ al-Akhir, Jumada al-Akhirah, Sha’ban, and Ramadan completed thirty days) according to the lunar Hijri calendar (Arabic). There are 19 or 20 days left until the end of the year.
The most important events of the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah
- 340 AH: The Fatimids returned the Black Stone to the Kaabah after the Qarmatians had hidden it for twenty-three years.
- 1421 AH: More than 35 pilgrims were killed in Mecca after a stampede of pilgrims
- 1424 AH: At least 244 people die in a run-over accident as a result of the crowding of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
- 1427 AH: The crime of execution of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein at the dawn of the first day of Eid al-Adha by Shiites backed by the American occupation forces.
Dhul-Hijjah witnessed many events on the Islamic level, the most prominent of which were:
- The second exodus of the Messenger of Allah (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him) to Syria in the trade of Lady Khadija (25th year / the year of the elephant (al-fil) with her servant Maisarah when he met him on the road Nestor, the monk, and preached his prophethood
- The second pledge of allegiance to Aqaba (in the 13th year of the mission) and it was in it; As’ad bin Zarara, Rafi’ bin Malik, Saad bin Ubadah, Saad bin Al-Rabee’ and Al-Bara’ bin Ma’roor; Al Mundhir bin Amr; and Abdullah bin Rawahah; and Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram; Ubadah bin Al-Samit is from Al-Khazraj, and three from Al-Aws and they are Usaid bin Al-Hudayr, Saad bin Khaithama, and Rifa`ah bin Abdul-Mundhir.
- 2 AH: The Battle of Al-Suwaiq was a victory for the Muslims, and in the same year Ali bin Abi Talib married Fatima – may God be pleased with them – the daughter of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace.
- 8 AH: The birth of Ibrahim bin Rasool Allah (may God bless him and grant him peace) from Maria the Coptic.
- 9 AH: The Farewell Pilgrimage, which is the first and last pilgrimage of the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, after the conquest of Makkah, and he delivered the Farewell Sermon, which included several religious and moral values. And he advised them to communicate the law to those who missed it.
This great month also witnessed the assassination and death of the leaders and caliphs of Islam, as:
- 23 A.H., The Commander of the Faithful, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, was assassinated by Abu Lulu’ Al-Majusi, and that was on Wednesday, 25 Dhu Al-Hijjah, 23 A.H. 644 A.D.
- 35 A.H., the Commander of the Faithful, Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him, was assassinated on Friday, 18 Dhu al-Hijjah, 35 AH – 656 AD, and he was 82 years old.
- 60 A.H., Death of Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan.
