The best means of doing so is by reading the Quran. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Satan flees from a house where Surat Al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) also advised us to read Al-Fatihah and the last three surahs of the Quran – before going to bed – as a sure protection from evil spirits.
Therefore, as a Muslim, you are encouraged to shun the belief that incense burning helps to keep the devils away.
Can Drinking Soaked Paper with Allah’s Names Repel Devils?
Regarding the practice of writing the names of Allah on a piece of paper, soaking it in water, and drinking it, opinions among scholars vary. Some argue that this practice has no basis in the primary sources of Islam and recommend focusing on established forms of worship and remembrance (dhikr).
However, other scholars emphasize the spiritual significance enshrouded in the names of Allah. They suggest that, under certain conditions and with the right intentions, such practices can bring blessings and protection. It is crucial, though, to approach these practices with caution and seek guidance from knowledgeable and trusted religious authorities to ensure they are performed correctly and respectfully.
Ultimately, the most robust protection and peace come from adhering to the prescribed prayers and engaging in regular dhikr, as emphasized by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Consistency in these fundamental practices fortifies one’s spiritual defense against evil influences.
