Hebrew media sources reported that an Israeli settler with British citizenship was arrested in the southern suburbs of Beirut after entering Lebanon under the pretext of being a journalist.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, the settler, named Yehoshua Tartakovsky, was formerly associated with the ultra-Orthodox Haredi community in occupied Jerusalem. He entered Lebanon alongside other journalists, leveraging his British passport to facilitate his entry, claiming to be on a journalistic mission.

Reports indicated that Tartakovsky was staying at the Mövenpick Hotel in Beirut’s Raouche district. Meanwhile, Yedioth Ahronoth, an Israeli daily, mentioned that his behavior raised suspicions among the Lebanese authorities. After his arrest, investigators reportedly found an Israeli passport in his possession.
Tartakovsky’s social media profiles revealed that this was not his first visit to Beirut.
Additionally, Amichai Stein, a correspondent for Israel’s Kan TV, reported that Tartakovsky was detained in the southern suburbs of Beirut on charges of espionage.
