The pioneers of social networking sites circulated a video that sparked widespread anger, documenting the assault of Indian police on a young Muslim man, which led to his death in the northeastern state of Assam.
The video spread on social media shows a number of Indian police shooting a young man who local media said was a Muslim, and then continued to beat him with sticks, while a journalist stepped forward and trampled the Muslim youth while he was lying on the ground.
Indian news sites said that the journalist who participated in the crime that took place last Thursday – called (Bijoy Banya), a photographer hired by the city authorities to document the eviction campaign carried out by the authorities against Muslims, while the police said that the photographer was arrested.
Anger on Social Media
The video sparked an uproar on social media in several Arab and Muslim countries, and many expressed their anger and shock at the brutal crimes committed against Muslims in India, while the international community and human rights organizations ignored them.
Tweeter Sarah Al-Ghamdi commented on the incident, saying: “The Indian journalist who kept jumping and jumping over the body of the Indian (Muslim), after the Indian forces beat him..!! This scene will not provoke (Western society) or (secular Arabs) .. because it is a scene in which there is no imposition (veil on women).”
While Amal Zarrouk wrote: “The racist Indian authorities are launching a new campaign targeting Muslims in India… Field executions, burning of villages and homes, and demolition of mosques… Muslims are exterminated and the hypocritical world is watching!!”.
As for the tweet, Tariq Al-Shehri wrote: “Our Muslim brothers in India are being killed and exterminated, and their homes and mosques are being demolished by the ruling Hindu terrorist parties in India. Oh God, help our oppressed Muslim brothers all over the world.”
