When crimes against humanity are committed, it is the duty of Muslims to stand with the oppressed whether they are Muslims or not. If such crimes are committed in the name of Islam, we have a further obligation to clarify for people the truth about our religion.
The so-called “Islamic” state, also known as ISIS or ISIL, has released a video message calling upon Muslims to kill civilians living in the nations at war with them. Muhammad Adnani, official spokesman of ISIS, issued the following statement:
If you can kill a disbelieving American or European, especially the spiteful and filthy French, or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, kill him in any manner or way however it may be. Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling.
This communication demonstrates as clear as day that ISIS are the modern-day Khawarij and the enemies of Islam. Their real name is Wahhabeyyah. Never have we seen such stubborn and ignorant repudiation of Islamic law. Any Muslim who supports them after hearing this from them is a fool who follows his repugnant desires upon the path to Hellfire.
Allah said:
وَقَاتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ
Ibn Abbas, explained this verse saying:
لَا تَقْتُلُوا النِّسَاءَ وَلَا الصِّبْيَانَ وَلَا الشَّيْخَ الْكَبِيرَ وَلَا مَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ وَكَفَ يَدَهُ فَإِنْ فَعَلْتُمْ هَذَا فَقَدَ اعْتَدَيْتُمْ
Do not kill women, or children, or old men, or whoever comes to you with peace and he restrains his hand from fighting, for if you did that you would certainly have transgressed.

Abdullah ibn Umar, reported:
أَنَّ امْرَأَةً وُجِدَتْ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَقْتُولَةً فَأَنْكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَتْلَ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ
A woman was found killed in one of the battles of the Messenger of Allah, so he condemned the killing of women and children.

Our religion is based upon the values of peace, mercy, justice, and welfare for humanity. ISIS may call their actions the “Sharia” but they, in fact, have nothing to do with it. Their understanding of the Sharia is false and their state is illegitimate.
Furthermore, ISIS intends to separate the Muslims from their scholars by telling their followers to “not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict.” Yet it is the methodology of Islam to consult the scholars in matters great and small, especially verdicts involving warfare.
Allah said:
فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
Surah Al-Anbiya 21:7
It is the right of our scholars and elders that we consult them in such manners and that we have mercy on children.
Ubadah ibn As-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
لَيْسَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَنْ لَمْ يُجِلَّ كَبِيرَنَا وَيَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيَعْرِفْ لِعَالِمِنَا حَقَّهُ
He is not from my nation who does not honor our elders, nor have mercy on our young ones, nor recognize the rights of our scholars.

Indeed, ISIS has set themselves against the people of knowledge. If the members of ISIS are so just and righteous, why do so many of them hide their identities behind a mask? Why do they not disclose the sources of their funding and armaments? Or perhaps they are hiding the fact that they consume wealth from what is unlawful? Rather, their insistence on secrecy is an evident sign of their misguidance.
Dear Muslims, let not the eloquence of ISIS’s or Wahhabeyya’s (so-called Salafis) words trick you into believing their methods and goals are Islamic. Rather, their passionate rhetoric and ugly deeds only confirm their description by the Prophet as the Khawarij.
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
سَيَكُونُ فِي أُمَّتِي اخْتِلَافٌ وَفُرْقَةٌ قَوْمٌ يُحْسِنُونَ الْقِيلَ وَيُسِيئُونَ الْفِعْلَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ
There will be dissension and division in my nation and a people will come with beautiful words but evil deeds. They recite the Quran but it will not pass beyond their throats.

Neither let their claims of enjoining good and forbidding evil blind you to the wickedness of their actions. Their call to murder civilians will only ensure that more violence is inflicted upon the innocent people of Iraq and Syria as well as the Muslims in Western countries who will be harassed and attacked in retaliation, effectively undermining and cutting off the invitation to Islam in those countries.
Allah said:
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ
When it is said to them do not cause corruption on the earth, they say we are only reformers. No doubt, they are corrupt but they perceive it not.
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:11-12
This corrupt and malicious group will continue to appear and be cut off until the False Messiah himself (ad-dajjal) will emerge from among them.
Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
سَيَخْرُجُ أُنَاسٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَشْرِقِ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ كُلَّمَا خَرَجَ مِنْهُمْ قَرْنٌ قُطِعَ كُلَّمَا خَرَجَ مِنْهُمْ قَرْنٌ قُطِعَ
There will emerge from the east some people from my nation who recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats. Every time a faction of them emerges it will be cut off.
The Prophet repeated this and on the tenth time he said:
كُلَّمَا خَرَجَ مِنْهُمْ قَرْنٌ قُطِعَ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الدَّجَّالُ فِي بَقِيَّتِهِمْ
Every time a faction of them emerges it will be cut off until the False Messiah emerges from their remnants.

The greatest impostor and false prophet the world will ever see will come from their ranks. Every Muslim who has eyes to see, ears to hear, and who truly knows his faith will identify these criminals as the agents of Satan.
